I sit there, wondering what the new year would bring.
Â
Â
Â
I have been here before,
Â
I have wrestled with uncertainty a couple times.
Â
And yet I struggle to find hope,
Â
Growing up is a scam, I tell you.
Â
Â
Â
“I got this”, He tells me,
Â
It could easily be the millionth time,
Â
“But the stakes are too high this time”, I remind him.
Â
He smiles, saying, “Honey, with you, the stakes are always too high.
Â
Â
Â
But, how about you take deep breaths ,
Â
Focus on what I have asked you to do already.”
Â
“I might spiral out again tomorrow, I reply wryly,
Â
That’s alright, he assures me, I got you, every single time.
Â
When will it get easier?
Â
I ask him, exhausted with life at 28.
Â
The more you focus on your purpose,
Â
The less uncertainty would bother you, he assures.
Â
Â
Â
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
